Administration Honors Society Wins National Chapter Award
Pi Alpha Alpha (PAA), a
national public administration honors society, has more than 250 member chapters
across the country. Last month, CSUDH’s organization received the 2005 Chapter
Award of Excellence, singling it out as the best in the entire nation for the
04-05 academic year.

National Urban
University Conference Convenes on Campus
The Coalition of
Urban and Metropolitan Universities (CUMU), hosted by CSU Dominguez Hills,
gathered at the Torrance Marriott Hotel in early October. More than 250
professionals – administrators and educators – arrived from across the United
States to exchange ideas and information on a number of educational issues
related to their urban/metropolitan university environments.

Newsmakers
Iris Baxter, assistant
professor of public administration, was recently appointed to the National
Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration’s Executive Board
for Health Administration Programs.
Gloria Harper was selected as
one of the new Millennium Momentum Foundation, Inc., Scholarship recipients. In
addition to the scholarship, Harper will receive a mentor, internship placement,
job placement services, participation in professional development workshops and
forums, and various other forms of career guidance. She joins follows fellow
CSUDH student Deidre Knight as the second student to receive the award from
campus this year. She will be honored along with other students from Southern
California colleges and universities on Dec. 6, 2005.
