Campus Welcomes Students Affected by Hurricane Katrina CSUDH is one of seven CSU campuses to accept displaced students from Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama for the fall semester. As of last month, 22 students affected by the natural disaster had enrolled. The other campuses admitting students include Bakersfield, Chico, East Bay, Humboldt, Los Angeles and Sacramento, all of which still have room for additional students. They will accept students whose records are not available due to the devastation in the Gulf area caused by Hurricane Katrina. Temporary exceptions are being made in admission standards, including exemption from non-resident fees, assistance with housing arrangements, and the waiving of some English and mathematics placement requirements. Fees will be deferred until further notice. Continued enrollment will depend upon the ability of schools, colleges and universities to provide transcripts in time for registration. Possible federal financial aid is being explored by the CSU with the U.S. Department of Education. |
