Five Professors Join CBAPP's
New Faculty Generation
On the heels of eight new faculty members brought on last fall, five new faculty
members have joined CBAPP this academic year. With six more positions currently
being recruited for next year, they represent the latest wave in the new
generation of CBAPP faculty with a variety of classroom and research experience
from around the world.
Natasa
Christodoulidou, assistant professor of management
Coming from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas’ renowned hospitality
management doctoral program where she graduated in the spring with a 3.92
grade-point average, Christodoulidou will serve as the key faculty member
launching the new Sports, Entertainment, and Hospitality Management
concentration, which was first offered this fall. (See the

David
Hoopes, associate professor of management
Hoopes joined the faculty in January after beginning his career at the
University of Kansas and Southern Methodist University. He teaches and
researches in strategic planning, entrepreneurship, and family business
among other topics. He just recently co-authored a paper published in
Family Business Review, which is the focus of this month's

Questions.
Hamoud Salhi,
assistant professor of political science
Salhi has been a part-time lecturer within the Political Science Department
for many years and has been instrumental in organizing a number of events on
campus to engage students in current issues. With a Ph.D. from the
University of Southern California, he teaches topics in international
relations and comparative politics and has research interests in Middle East
politics and conflict, Islam and religious fundamentalism, and
democratization.
Tayyeb
Shabbir, associate professor of finance
After teaching in both the Economics Department and Finance Department
within the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania for
20 years, Shabbir will teach “Advanced Topics in Multinational Finance” and
“Financial Institutions Management” this semester at CSUDH. He’s in the
final stages of completing an edited book on financial crises together with
economics Nobel laureate Lawrence Klein.
Xia Zhao,
assistant professor of management
Fresh out of her doctoral program at the University of Texas, Dallas, Zhao
will teach “Management Theory” and ”Strategic Management” this fall. She
completed her dissertation, titled "The Voluntary Adaptation of Corporate
Governance Reforms in the Post-Enron Era," in June. Her research foci
include strategic management and organization theory. |
