Professors Cynthia Ozeki and Haejin Kim (standing, far left) launched HRMA (an HR student group) in the fall and the response has been astounding. The students’ interest and involvement has allowed the professors to tackle other improvements to CBAPP’s HR program as well.
HR Program Gets Major Makeover
Assistant Professor of Management Haejin Kim was CBAPP’s only professor specializing in human resource management until Cynthia Ozeki, assistant professor of management, joint the faculty in September. 10 Questions...on Eminent Domain for Carlos Jackson
Eminent domain – a centuries’ old tool of taking private land for public use – became a highly volatile issue last summer after the Supreme Court ruled public entities could use the policy for economic development, not just its more traditional uses of building highways, schools, and other public projects. As the executive director of the Los Angeles County Community Development Commission, Carlos Jackson finds himself in the middle of the issue because his office is charged with both redevelopment and the development of affordable housing. Here, he explains why the issue has become so charged, what a political backlash against the Supreme Court ruling could mean, and why his office has never invoked it. Full story

But Professor of International Business and Finance Burhan Yavas suggests the case for undervaluation of the yuan may be overstated and that the proposed U.S. measures may blow up in our face because we’ll be tinkering with the same open market we’re calling for the Chinese to endorse.
