Boeing Honored as Corporate Partner of Education The Boeing Company was honored as this year’s Corporate Partner of Education at the annual President’s Dinner at the Torrance Marriott on March 25. From partnerships to internships, the company has contributed to the University in a number of ways. “Boeing is honored to receive this award and we are proud of our partnership with the university. Our grant to support the College of Education’s Quality Educator Development project is an example of the type of programs we fund to emphasize educator effectiveness,” said David L. Ryan, president of Boeing Satellite Systems International, who accepted the award. “We believe that the educators’ knowledge and ability are directly associated with student learning.” Boeing executives serve on the advisory boards for both the business administration and computer science departments at CSUDH, and Boeing has encouraged both students and professors to take part in their scholarship and grant programs. In addition, CSUDH is one of only four universities in Southern California competing for slots for student internships at Boeing. Some of those students have become Boeing employees. The company has also served as a catalyst in setting up partnerships between the California State University (CSU), El Camino College and the Torrance, El Segundo and Wiseburn school districts. |
