The old adage is that the U.S. economy sneezes and the rest of the world catches a cold. Yet, as international economic crises expert and Associate Professor of Finance Tayyeb Shabbir explains, that may no longer be the case for every country around the globe. Recent structural changes around the world may mean that in the 21st century, the U.S. economy interacts with emerging economies in ways that vary from the historical norms. Here, Shabbir, who co-edited Recent Financial Crises: Analysis, Challenges and Implications in 2007, details why and how the U.S. economy’s downturn will impact the rest of the world. Clinton, the daughter of presidential hopeful Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) and former President Bill Clinton, visited the Carson campus as part of the Clinton campaign’s young voter outreach effort. Accompanying Clinton to the youth movement rally outside the Loker Student Union’s Palm Courtyard were actors America Ferrera, Amber Tamblyn, Erika Alexander and Simon Woods, along with Congresswoman Laura Richardson (D-Carson) and Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (D-Garden Grove). Full story NewsmakersSenior Don Manning, business administration, received the Carol Burke Memorial Scholarship Award at the 2007 regional conference of the Association of College Unions International (ACUI). The professional development organization sponsors one student a year to attend the national ACUI conference, which will be held this year in New Orleans.
